The Wayfinder Drinking Horn

Vegvísir is an Icelandic name associated with showing the way.

The stave appears in the nineteenth-century Icelandic Huld manuscript, where it is presented as a sign carried to avoid becoming lost in storms, bad weather or unfamiliar surroundings.

It is often marketed today as a “Viking compass,” but it is not documented as a Viking Age navigational instrument. Its honest story is not weaker. It belongs to a later Icelandic magical tradition built around one enduring human fear: losing the way forward.

The engraved design follows the natural colour, markings and curve of every horn. No two carry the stave in precisely the same way, just as no two people face the unknown from precisely the same place.

The engraved stave and overall product style will remain consistent, although minor handcrafted variations may occur.

Changed your mind? Most unused, non-personalised products can be returned within 30 days of receiving your order.

Items must be unused, unworn, unwashed and returned in their original condition and packaging. Please contact us before sending anything back so we can confirm eligibility and provide return instructions.

Personalised and custom-made products cannot be returned for change of mind once work has begun. This does not affect your rights if an item is faulty, damaged or different from what you ordered.

Products purchased directly from Modern Viking are covered for two years from the date of delivery against defects in materials or workmanship under normal, intended use.

What Is Covered

This warranty covers confirmed manufacturing or workmanship defects that cause the product to fail or prevent it from performing its intended function.

Personalised and engraved products remain fully covered for manufacturing or workmanship defects.

What Is Not Covered

This warranty does not cover damage or deterioration resulting from:

• Normal wear and ageing
• Accidental damage, impact, misuse or neglect
• Improper cleaning, storage or use
• Failure to follow the supplied care instructions
• Unauthorised repairs, modifications or third party personalisation
• Customer submitted spelling, wording or symbol errors
• Loss or theft
• Cosmetic marks, fading or discolouration consistent with normal use

Natural differences in horn, wood and other handcrafted materials, including colour, grain, curve, texture, shape and capacity, are part of each product’s individual character and are not defects, provided the product matches its description and remains fit for its intended use.

These exclusions apply only where the excluded event caused or contributed to the problem. They do not limit any rights available under applicable consumer law.

Making a Warranty Claim

Contact support@modernviking.com.au with:

• Your order number or other proof of purchase
• A description of the problem
• Clear photographs or video showing the issue

Please keep the product and wait for return instructions before sending it.

We may request the product for assessment. If a warranty defect is confirmed, Modern Viking will repair, replace or refund the product as appropriate. Where applicable law gives you the right to choose the remedy, that right will be respected.

Reasonable return costs associated with a valid warranty claim will be covered or reimbursed by Modern Viking. Please follow our return instructions and retain your postage receipt.

Australian Consumer Law

This 2 Year Modern Viking Warranty provides additional protection and does not replace or restrict your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Those rights may continue after the two year warranty period.
