Keep The Blade Battle-Ready

This cutter is made from high-carbon steel, which means it has real strength, weight, and character, but it must be cared for properly.

1. 🛡️ Oil To Protect
The most important step is keeping the blade lightly oiled. High-carbon steel can rust if it is left wet or unprotected, so apply a thin layer of food-safe blade oil after cleaning and before storing it away.

For best results, we recommend using Modern Viking Blade Oil with a Modern Viking microfibre cloth to keep the blade protected, clean, and ready for the next feast.

2. 💧 Clean After Every Feast
After use, wash the blade by hand with cool or lukewarm water. Do not put it in the dishwasher and do not leave it soaking in water.

3. 🧼 Use Mild Soap Only
For a deeper clean, use a small amount of mild soap and a soft cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, steel wool, or abrasive sponges.

4. 🌬️ Dry Immediately
Once washed, dry the blade straight away with a clean towel. High-carbon steel should never be left wet, as moisture can cause rust over time.

5. 🐂 Real Leather Sheath Care
Your cutter comes with a real cowhide leather sheath. Because it is genuine leather, natural oils or leather residue may sometimes transfer onto the blade while stored.

If you notice marks on the blade after it has been in the sheath, do not panic. Wipe it clean, apply a light coat of oil, and store it dry.
